Who We Are
The NAC Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit emergency food pantry for Northbridge residents. Since 1988, we've been committed to ensuring our local families in need are able to put food on the table. We are partnered with the Worcester County Food Bank, where we receive monthly allotments of food through the MEFAP (state) program and the USDA (federal) program. We are also sustained by contributions from churches, corporations and individuals in the surrounding area. This allows us to serve more than 100 families per month.
In 2013, we partnered with Northbridge High School to create a community garden that supplies the pantry with fresh fruits and vegetables. Each year, the NPS Community Garden grows more than 2000 pounds of produce such as cucumbers, tomatoes and squash. Northbridge High School students are currently working towards creating a sustainability center that houses hydro- and aquaponics watering systems in order to provide our families with fresh produce year-round.
Our mission is to help anyone and everyone in Northbridge who is struggling with food insecurity. Here's what you need to know.
- When you arrive at the Pantry, you will be paired with one of our volunteers. They will walk you through the pantry to help you choose items that you and your family need, much like choosing items at a grocery store.
- You may shop at the Pantry for as long as you need to, but we ask that you limit visits to once a month.
- You may shop at the Pantry once without a referral. Afterwards, you will need to obtain a referral from Catholic Charities, WIC, the Senior Center, a social worker, school official or nurse.
- After three visits, it's recommended that you seek additional resources through Catholic Charities.
For information on where we're located and our hours, please check out the Contact Us page.
Our all-volunteer staff is what makes this food pantry possible. We are blessed to have so many people in our local communities who are willing to give their time and compassion to help their neighbors in need. That said, we're always looking for more! If you're interested in volunteering for the NAC Food Pantry, check out our open positions and click on the button below to get started.
